This past week was a really fun one for Canopy students, starting last Saturday with Visiting Day.

Most boarding schools have a weekend each term when parents come and hang out with their kids. For Canopy students (currently studying at our partner school, Mind Bridge while construction is going on), parents sometimes struggle to make the trip to Nairobi for Visiting day, so our staff came together and celebrated with the students. Mama Gladys made her famous rice pilau and the staff brought  samples of sugary sweets from the U.S.!

Abbu, Linah and Alice were some of the staff who came to Visiting Day on behalf of parents who couldn’t make it.

As you may know, our sponsors have the option each Christmas of filling a Sponsor-Box for their students. In January, we take the sponsor boxes over to Kenya and deliver an item from sponsor-to-student every month of the school year, sometimes it’s a letter, sometimes a picture or even a treat. This year, we gave the additional option of including your favorite boxed or canned food to share with all the students. Brownies were by far the top ranking dessert, so we whipped up some brownies and sugar cookies (even with decorations!) to share with the kids.  Everyone had a great time!!

Just a few days later was VALENTINE’S DAY and once again the sponsor boxes got the spotlight. Our February sponsor box delivery were valentines and candy from the sponsors… the kids loved it!

Thank you, sponsors, for your support, encouragement and love for the Canopy Life students. We couldn’t do this without you and it wouldn’t be half as much fun!

If you’re interested in joining in on the sponsorship fun, check out our sponsorship site where you can see students still in need of sponsors.
