Last Thursday, October 8, John Korambu (“Korab”) took over Canopy Life’s Instagram account and took us on a journey to see a day in his life at the Academy. This was a lot of fun for John, his sponsors, his 4th grade classmates, and teachers. Thank you to all of you who followed along throughout the day, and interacted by asking questions and saying hello!
Since we know some of you aren’t on Instagram, we thought we would share some of John’s grams here on the blog. So here you go, without further ado: A Day in the Life of John Korambu: a story told in little square pictures.
Have you met John? He is known for his active and inquisitive personality. He is in constant motion, and always looking for new ways to test his strength and abilities.
7:00 a.m: Habari asubuhi (How is your morning)? My name is John! I am dressed and hanging my towel on the line to dry for the day. Oh, and by the way, I’m taking over your instagram for the rest of the day!
It’s 7:30 a.m. I’ve just had my breakfast, and I’m finishing my chai (tea) while I wait for Teacher Abbu to arrive to lead us in our morning devotion.
8:15 am. Teacher Abbu is leading us in a devotion. We were talking about Jacob blessing his son, Issachar-his shoulders were ready for work…just like Jesus carried the weight of our sins on His shoulders. “For the joy set before Him he endured the cross.” We learned we should keep our eyes on Him so we can endure the things we go through in life.
9:00 a.m, and I am learning how to read quarter note and eighth note rhythms with Teacher Pip.
9:45 a.m: I am learning about the police in Social Studies class.
This is Mama Gladys! She makes sure everyone is well-fed around here. We love her so much!
3:30 p.m We are finishing up class for the day with a prayer (and hugs!) with Teacher Margaret.
4:00 p.m. and it’s time to clean! Here I am with my buddy Dan cleaning the bathroom.
5:30 p.m. Our chores ares complete! Ken and I are playing a game of chess before dinner.
