The students are back on campus after a refreshing break—and Term 2 is officially underway! Before we dive into the new term, here’s a look back at all that happened in the final weeks of Term 1. From exciting field trips to innovation projects and spiritual growth, here’s what the Canopy Life community has been up to.

Campus Expansion & Improvements

Construction is moving forward on campus! A new senior school and house space are underway. Crews have begun clearing the cotton soil to prepare the land for strong, stable foundations. We’re excited to see this new phase of growth unfold!

This work is part of the exciting expansion happening across the Canopy Life campus—improving our learning spaces and preparing to welcome more students in the future. We’re excited to see this new phase of growth unfold!

Canopy Life Family: Staff Updates

We welcomed Valerie Chebet as our new Innovations Intern this term! At the same time, we said goodbye to Maureen, our Financial Accountant. We’re so grateful for her years of service and the impact she’s made on our team.

Home Life: Building Memories & Character

Term 1 ended on a high note with an ice skating trip at the Panari Hotel!

Emotionally and developmentally, the focus this month has been on empathy, resilience, and building hope. Students reflected on how they could grow in these areas—through mentorship, peer learning, and pursuing their goals with intention. It’s been beautiful to see their self-awareness and desire to grow!

Spiritual Life: Faith in Action

Our students are continuing to grow spiritually. Through our Bible study guide Growing into Christ’s Fullness, they’ve explored:

  • The Art of True Fellowship
  • Growing in Love
  • What is Forgiveness
  • Faith in Action
  • The Patterns and Power of Prayer

Two students, Alpha Chomba and Gladys Mumbi, have stepped into leadership roles, coordinating the eight study groups across campus. Meanwhile, the spiritual program also focused on helping students understand the “Program Performance Indicators,” including pledges, measurable skills, and observable qualities.

Academics: Arise & Shine

Guided by the theme Arise and Shine (Isaiah 60:1), students leaned into growth, resilience, and excellence. Mid-term and end-of-term assessments reflected remarkable academic progress. Many students showed significant improvement and were celebrated for their achievements.

Teachers also participated in professional development sessions on time management, core teaching strategies, and literature instruction. Lessons were delivered consistently and effectively throughout the term.

Some hands-on highlights included:

  • Weaving, stitching, pottery, string art, and painting
  • Taekwondo classes, which continued to sharpen focus and self-discipline
  • Engaging science and agricultural projects

    Innovation: Creating, Prototyping, and Problem-Solving

Innovation stayed strong last term, with each grade level focusing on a unique skill set:

    • Grade 8 students dove into woodwork—learning about power tool safety, different joints, sanding techniques, and even creating their own lap and butt joints in small groups. Up next: their first individual build projects!
    • Grade 9 students explored Technopreneurship—a fusion of technology and entrepreneurship. They identified real-world problems, explored business models, and began building mobile app prototypes using tools like Canva, Dribbble, and Behance.

Their creativity and determination are already producing exciting early-stage solutions!

    Sponsorship & Community Connections

While there were no sponsor box deliveries at the end of the term, the students stayed busy with fun activities. They even visited a local family in need to serve and encourage their neighbors.

And of course—we celebrated birthdays with a joyful party for all students born between January and April!

Agents of Transformation: Practicing the Pledge

Across every department, students continued practicing what it means to be an Agent of Transformation:

    • Reading the pledge weekly
    • Reviewing measurable and observable leadership qualities
    • Participating in 10–15 minute reflection exercises
    • Practicing real-life skills, like financial literacy and peer mentorship

On March 14, students nominated a staff member who exemplifies the Agent of Transformation qualities—an inspiring reminder that growth happens across our whole community.

    PRAYER REQUESTS

As we begin Term 2, please pray for:

Spiritual growth—that each child would grow strong in their faith and identity, and not be swayed by outside pressures.

Grade 9 students as they prepare for their final year of Junior High. There are still many unknowns in the senior school syllabus.
