Deep Roots is a discipleship curriculum developed by and implemented at Canopy Life Academy. It’s purpose is to guide students on an intentional path to a clear understanding of: Mighty God, Godly Me (character), Family Love, and Strong Community. One of the unique aspects of our Deep Roots class is that it doubles as our Arts program where spiritual truths are taught creatively through singing, dancing, art and drama.
On Wednesday, Teacher Abbu joined us in Deep Roots class to share about our big idea for this week: My Father Is Pleased With Me. This is such a good reminder for all of us. Because of Jesus, our Heavenly Father is pleased with us. As a result of Jesus’ sacrifice, God sees us through the eyes of His son. Romans 8:1 says that, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

The next day, Teacher Pip asked two of our girls, “If you could give the whole world one message, what would you say?” Elizabeth said, “You should love!” And Janet’s answer? “If you feel that God has forsaken you, don’t say that—God has sent angels to fight for you. God is with you wherever you are.”

The idea that God is pleased with us can be a difficult concept to grasp, but it is so foundational to our faith. Many of us wonder how God can be pleased with us, even though we have sinned. The answer is Jesus. When our Father in Heaven looks at His children, he doesn’t see our sins, he sees his Son! Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, we can stand before him clothed in righteousness.
We are beyond thankful that our kids at Canopy Life are beginning to understand just how much God loves them. They are grasping their need for Jesus more and more every day. In art class this week, students learned how to draw an eye, as a reminder that their Father looks at them as through the eyes of Jesus, and he is pleased with what he sees.
