July was full of moments that reminded us why Canopy Life is so unique. We’re constantly in awe – watching years of dreaming become a reality before our eyes. This month we saw learning go beyond the classroom, community service becoming a joy, and students discovering what it means to live as Agents of Transformation. From community outreach to Arduino projects and exciting campus construction progress, here’s a glimpse into life on campus this summer.
Home Life – Beyond the Classroom
As part of our Community Service Program, students visited a family in the neighborhood to share fellowship and encouragement. Three students—Imani, Daniel, and Delight—had been requested to share words of encouragement with the family. They were articulate and demonstrated knowledge of God’s word as each of them shared from scripture. The family expressed deep gratitude, calling the visit a blessing from God.
The Home Life team also hosted a Moms’ Seminar, creating space for mothers to share insights, encouragement, and feedback. The moms requested more time for gatherings in the future, as these sessions are both impactful and deeply appreciated.

Growing in Emotional Resilience
In group sessions this summer, students focused on conflict resolution skills. They learned practical ways to navigate disagreements with grace and understanding. Through role-play, discussion, and real-life scenarios, they are gaining tools to build stronger relationships and communicate effectively.
Spiritual Life: Rooted in Christ
One highlight this summer was the students’ skit at Redeemed Gospel Church Koma. The skit illustrated the importance of staying connected to Christ using the imagery of a phone, charger, and electric power. Members of the congregation told us they were blessed by it, and it sparked meaningful conversations about daily fellowship with God.

Morning devotions continued with the Sermon on the Mount series, Monday reflections from House Parents, music-led devotionals on Fridays, and encouragement from Mr. Houston Kimura every other Thursday. We also began giving students the opportunity to lead devotions. So far, Daniel, Michelle, and Leticia have shared on Love, God’s Grace, and Humility & Kindness.
Sunday services included powerful messages such as “Be the Best Version of Yourself” by trip team member, Khari Manuel. Our campus was also blessed by visits from two U.S. teams who joined worship and staff devotions.

Academics at Canopy Life
A big milestone this summer was the furnishing of our science laboratory. This timely upgrade (new lab tables and chairs) was completed just in time for national practical exams. Students now have the space and resources to conduct experiments with greater independence and confidence. Stay tuned for the new fume chamber reveal: coming soon to the Canopy Life Academy science lab!

In addition to the practicals, students participated in national assessment projects in cooking, folk dance, and drama. These activities tied directly into our core teaching strategies of hands-on learning, movement, and active note-taking. The results were clear: students were engaged, creative, and eager to participate.
Innovation in Action
Grade 8 students continued exploring robotics, progressing from basic LED blinking to more complex Arduino projects like traffic lights, alarm systems, and sensor-based devices. They can now design and code their own projects from scratch, combining components to solve real-world problems.

Grade 9 students advanced their skills in metalwork, creating functional 3D objects like dustpans—first in paper prototypes and then in metal—and toothbrush holders. They practiced measurement, layout, cutting, and shaping, building precision, patience, and creativity.

Innovation sessions also included “Think Deeper” discussions on problem solving, personal organization, and the skills of grit, curiosity, and creativity. Each activity was tied to our Agent of Transformation framework.
Living Out the Agent of Transformation Vision
This summer, the Agent of Transformation theme focused on self-control, confidence, and resilience. Students explored biblical examples like Paul, Joshua, and Esther, as well as role models from our own staff, identifying the skills and qualities that define transformational leaders.
They also took part in practical activities to build these traits, from public speaking by reciting the pledge to leading devotions, and from market clean-up service projects to fire drills that reinforced responsibility and preparedness.

Campus Construction
Our campus expansion has made incredible progress this summer.
The classroom buildings are now 98% complete in their substructures. The team has begun steel work and pouring concrete for the upper floors, bringing us closer to welcoming students into these new learning spaces.
Residence A and Residence B have both completed concrete and substructure work for the ground and second floors. Construction has now begun on the rooftop terrace, which will serve as a laundry drying area and an additional meeting space for students and staff.
Each step forward is shaping spaces where students can belong, learn, and grow into the leaders they are called to be.

Sponsor Encouragement
Students received special encouragement cards from their sponsors this summer. These notes are a tangible reminder that they are seen, valued, and prayed for by their global Canopy Life family.
