There’s something special about the rhythm of life at Canopy Life—the way each new month brings fresh growth, deeper connection, and more opportunities for students to step into their potential. June was no exception! From morning devotions and evening games to Arduino projects and role-playing conflict resolution, here’s a look at what’s been happening on campus.
Campus Expansion & Improvements
This month brought major progress on our campus expansion! Renovations on the current residence were completed just in time for students’ return from Term 1 break. These improvements not only help us meet updated Ministry of Education regulations, but also expand our capacity to serve a growing student population. Updates include:
- A commercial stove and hood vent for the kitchen
- A newly renovated dish-washing station (separate from food prep)
- New hand-washing laundry stations and a dedicated laundry room for the washing machine
- Accessibility ramps for both the residence and the academic facility

Meanwhile, Residence B is well on its way to having the upper floor framed, and progress has resumed on Residence A, where backfilling is underway now that the rains have cleared. The academic building foundation has been poured and is curing, and work has officially begun on a new wastewater treatment facility to serve our expanding campus.

Life Outside the Classroom
June kicked off with a splash—literally! Our students celebrated Madaraka Day (a public holiday in Kenya) with a swimming outing that left everyone smiling. Later in the month, they had the unforgettable experience of ice skating at Panari Hotel. For many, it was their very first time gliding on ice!
Back on campus, evenings are buzzing with energy as students train more professionally in sports. The improvements are noticeable—not just in skill, but in the joy and fulfillment they’re finding on the field. There’s also growing excitement as we prepare to welcome summer teams and dive into Maasai culture together through dancing and storytelling.
Home Life: Emotional Growth and Group Reflection
During evening debriefs, students are diving into 1 Samuel, reading a chapter a day and reflecting on its relevance to their lives. These consistent Bible studies have sparked thoughtful conversation and encouraged spiritual growth.
This month, they also researched real-life Agents of Transformation—people whose stories inspire and challenge them. One of the most impactful topics was “conflicting well.” Students explored the power of non-verbal communication through role play, demonstrating real-life scenarios and practicing healthy conflict resolution.

Deepening Spiritual Life
Students smoothly transitioned back into the second school term and have fully reengaged in spiritual disciplines. Weekly mentorship sessions, morning devotions, and Sunday services have been vibrant spaces for growth.
Topics explored this month included Meaningful Christianity, The Sin of Pride, Clean Hands and Pure Hearts, and the start of a new series on The Sermon on the Mount. The mentorship curriculum continues to center around the Agent of Transformation model, with readings, deep dives, and reflection. It’s been a blessing to see our interns, house parents, and staff like Mr. Kimura and Mr. Wachira step in to teach and worship with the students—building a foundation of faith, one session at a time.rmance Indicators,” including pledges, measurable skills, and observable qualities.
Academics Highlights
In the classroom, creativity is thriving! Students participated in hands-on science projects that boosted engagement and teamwork. Teachers noted stronger collaboration, especially during group activities and practical sessions. While some students are still adjusting to the challenge of preparing for major exams, teachers are offering extra guidance and support to help them succeed.

Innovation: Creating, Prototyping, and Problem-Solving
Innovation at Canopy Life continues to be a student favorite—and for good reason! Grade 8 students are diving into robotics and have mastered Arduino basics like blinking LED lights and creating custom light patterns. These hands-on experiences are helping them understand electronics, logic, and code in meaningful ways.
Meanwhile, Grade 9 students are rolling up their sleeves in the metalwork shop. From learning workshop safety to designing 3D dustpans with manilla paper, they’re gaining confidence in shaping ideas into real-world tools. The skills they’re building today—like measuring, layout, and design—are helping shape the leaders they’re becoming tomorrow.

Sponsor Love and Celebrations
This month, students received sponsor boxes not once—but twice! These thoughtful packages bring so much joy and remind our students that they are known and deeply cared for by their global Canopy Life family.
PRAYER REQUESTS
As our Grade 9 students begin their national assessments, we ask that you join us in lifting them up in prayer. These evaluations are important stepping stones in their educational journeys, and we’re cheering them on every step of the way.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey. Whether through prayer, sponsorship, or simply sharing our stories, your support helps nurture a community where students can belong, believe, and become all they were created to be.
Stay tuned for more updates next month!
