Hey, Canopy Life friends and family, can you believe Thanksgiving is next week!? 2015 has been a great year at Canopy Life Academy. With your outpouring of support, some of the highlights of the year have been the following:
- Launching our boarding school Canopy Life Academy with 10 Fourth Graders.
- Initiating our Deep Roots discipleship arts program: teaching spiritual truths through art, drama, music and dance.
- Piloting our Design Thinking program: equipping student with innovation and critical thinking skills that will empower them to develop new and strong ideas for products, services and business.
- Hosting 2 summer teams who invested time and resources to making our Kenyan campus beautiful and enriching our students lives.
Thanksgiving officially kicks off the holiday season – a time of reflecting on the past, showing gratitude to others, giving generously to those who have need, and setting goals for the following year. As we reflect on and praise God for the progress made through Canopy Life and its partners in the past 10 months, we are also setting goals for 2016.
As a nonprofit, we are also aware that November launches America into a season of tax-exempt, charitable giving. While there are innumerable ways to be involved in what Canopy Life is doing – things like praying faithfully, sharing our story with friends, going on trips, donating clothing, and attending events – today we would like to share with you about the opportunity to support Canopy Life financially.
While you can make a donation to Canopy Life at anytime during the year (and many of you do!), there are two upcoming times when you can join others across North America in meeting the needs of others.
#GIVINGTUESDAY: December 1. First there was Black Friday. Then Cyber Monday. And now there’s Giving Tuesday. “A Day TueGive.” To participate in Giving Tuesday, you can donate through our website at: canopylife.org/donate
Part of what makes Giving Tuesday a huge success every year is people participating with friends & family, and sharing their stories on social media. We would encourage you to gather your family, small group, coworkers, or sports team, choose a Canopy Life project that resonates with your group, and maximize your impact by giving together. Don’t forget to take a picture of your crew and hashtag it #GivingTuesday and #CanopyLifeAcademy.
YEAR-END GIVING: Now until December 31. Did you know that year-end giving accounts for 40-70% of most nonprofits’ annual budgets (according to Pursuant Group)!? With the end of the year drawing near, many use this opportunity to make tax-exempt donations in addition to their regular yearly giving.

We can’t say thank you enough for the generous support shown all year long to Canopy Life Academy and its students. It is a blessing to our staff and home team members to witness God’s people using their resources to serve others. And we hope that this November and December, you will feel the blessing of this overflow of generosity as well.
